OPERA EVENINGS

The Opera Evening is a tradition at La Masseria, going back almost 9 years, previously taking place the last Friday of every month (Feb – Nov). Apart from inimitable host, Lorenzo and accordionist, (Stanislav Anguelov or Andre van Vuuren) who entertain guests over weekends at the restaurant, the Opera evening is special because of the two or three professional opera singer who perform light arias, and Neapolitan songs in a relaxed ambience. Usually, a tenor, a soprano and a mezzo soprano, and an accordionist or pianist, but they may vary according to availability. Songs performed range from “O sole mio”, to Finiculi finicula’, to Nessun Dorma and favourite arias from many operas e.g. “Libiamo” (brindisi from Traviata), Habanera (Carmen) , the “cat song”, Flower song, Amigos para siempre, Time to say Goodbye and many, many more… This is a fantastic way of enjoying the classics in a relaxed environment while seated at your dinner table. The singers stand casually between the tables in the restaurant, so guests feel part of the act. We kindly ask that guests please observe a little silence during performance sets which do not last longer than 15-20 minutes each, so that everyone can enjoy the music.

Pricing subject to change and successful event depends on a minimum no. of bookings.

In the event of us cancelling the Opera, (due to low interest), it would then become a normal Friday night, with the accordionist and Lorenzo performing and the à la carte menu applies.

No Opera Evening in September 2010 due to long weekend

Restaurant will open as normal on Fri 25/09/10, with our usual musical entertainment and a la carte menu.
